Print Clan Goes Online

Here at Print Clan we’ve been really missing the studio, our lovely members, and the community that comes with it. We feel incredibly lucky to have our studio on the historic High Street, which we managed to move into with the help of the Meanwhile Space project. In these challenging times we want to support our fellow small businesses more than ever, so an extra special shoutout to our neighbours and fellow Meanwhile Space tenants at SaltSpace, the New Glasgow Society, and Sogo Arts.

Back in November 2019 WAVEparticle released a short film of High Street and Saltmarket’s Past Present Possible, which we were lucky enough to be featured in. We think they did a great job in capturing the community feel and potential of the area: make sure you give it a watch and support all our neighbours and fellow small businesses!

We had such a great time hosting our first ever online workshop with Fashion Revolution, that we decided to hold a whole programme throughout May. As we strive to make all of our workshops as accessible as possible, we have made sure that they don’t require any fancy materials or previous experience, so that the whole family can take part from the comfort of your own home.

Arianna kicked things off last weekend with a self portraiture workshop, where we went through a series of fun and easy drawing exercises, which approached drawing the face in an unconventional way. In this time when we’re all finding it hard to be creative, it provided a peaceful space to forget about the outside world, meet some new people, and make some art. It was such a success (and over-subscribed) that we’ll be holding another one on Tuesday 19th May. Check out our Workshops & Events page for more info.

This Sunday we’re excited to be having guest tutor and Print Clan team member Orla Stevens host a pattern making workshop. Orla will be guiding us through making a simple repeat pattern using different marks, shapes and textures.

Each of these workshops has been designed to work both individually and as part of a series, where we are building up to considering how to take our work into print. Although we can’t help you print at the studio just yet, we are in the process of figuring out options to make this happen – watch this space!

All of our online workshops are free but if you are able to please consider donating to Print Clan to support our work. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to a Glasgow food bank.
