Equipment Rental Policy 

Print Clan is an inclusive screen printing studio that nurtures creativity in people at any ability. We accommodate social, design and fine art based projects by offering access to screen printing resources and training. 

OUR MISSION

Print Clan Members are an integral part of our mission to increase access to screen printing and our identity as an open access studio. This means we seek to be welcoming, encouraging and fair to all people through building community, increasing inclusivity and sustainability in the art of screen printing.  

We value our members’ work and their communities and  are happy to provide basic screen packages for hire exclusively to them for use in workshops, live printing events or community activism. 

Ultimately this increases engagement in and awareness of screen printing which is vital to increasing accessibility. Renting equipment is also a sustainable practice which forwards our environmental and eco-conscious aims.

RENTAL PACKAGES

Each package includes:

  • A blank textile screen 

  • A suitably sized squeegee 

  • a soft printing pad. 

Each screen measures at least 16” x 19” and will accommodate an image up to A3 in size. 

The soft printing pad is the appropriate size for printing t-shirts, tote bags, or simply laying fabric onto.

The rental screen does not come exposed with a design. If a member wants the screen exposed we offer this service via Member’s Screen Prep . Prices and T&C’s for this service can be found on the website. 

Rental packages are eligible for collection from our studio on 241 High Street, during our core opening hours (Tuesdays - Fridays between 11am-5pm). 

RENTAL FEES

Each package requires a deposit which will be refunded minus an admin fee. We aim to keep our fees as minimal as possible to prevent any financial barriers to rental. 

These are priced as follows: 

- £30 initial deposit, £25 refunded minus £5 admin fee per A3 package 

Larger sizes of screen can be rented as part of a Rental Package on a case by case basis. These would incur larger deposits and admin fees which can be discussed with Print Clan staff. 

Members can loan out up to 5 packages at once.

Inks are sold separately and can be purchased via our online shop. 

CONDITIONS OF HIRE

The Equipment Rental Service (“Equipment Rental”) is intended for use by current Print Clan members for the promotion of charity, activism, wellbeing or creativity. 

Equipment Rental is not intended for the production of goods for sale, financial gain, commercial purposes, or any causes which promote racism, hate speech, sexism, fascism or target any individual or group based on their protected characteristics. If found to be using the service for production of such items, Print Clan will terminate membership immediately and may ban implicated parties from future access to our studio, equipment, and workshop services.

In order to continue to provide consistent service to our Equipment Rental users, members that rent equipment from Print Clan must : 

  • do all they can to ensure no damage that affects the functionality of equipment occurs. This can include tears and rips in the screen, or blockages due to incorrect ink usage or cleaning.

  • Use only water based inks 

  • When tape is used it must be Print Clan approved Screen Tape

  • Return packages within the agreed timeframe set out prior to rental. This is usually one week. 

Failure to return rental equipment to Print Clan can result in your membership being cancelled and you will be charged the full cost of replacing equipment.
