Design and screen print a commemorative message or picture onto a collaborative banner at our Textile Printing Taster Sessions celebrating the Refugee Festival Scotland 2025!
What will happen during the workshop?
Print Clan will be hosting three, one-hour taster sessions to create a large collaborative screen printed banner.
11am - 12pm
1- 2pm
3-4pm
We will then help you to prepare your personal design for print, and take you through the screen printing process to stencil a picture or word that resonates with their journey and connection to Scotland and print it onto the banner. This collective artwork will reflect diverse stories and the community's warm hospitality.
This intercultural, collaborative artwork aims to foster a sense of community and break down cultural barriers, making Scotland a welcoming place for everyone and marks a milestone in each participant's journey.
Print Clan C.I.C. is not-for-profit organisation. We hope to share that screen printing serves as a powerful medium to convey a message of integration and unity.
I have never done screen printing before, can I come?
Of course - the workshop is suitable for all skills levels. Everyone is welcome and no previous experience is necessary.
The studio will be open to the general public, including families and children, allowing everyone to add their own welcoming messages.
This taster session is free to encourage inclusivity and participation, and is gratefully funded in partnership with Refugee Festival Scotland.
Equipment Provided:
Equipment and materials such as screens, squeegees, a range of ink colours, newsprint paper, cutting mats and knives are all included. Each participant will print a design onto the collaborative banner, which will remain at Print Clan, and in time will be exhibited at Mono Cafe Bar. However if you have your own garment which you would like to up-cycle with your design, you are welcome to bring that along to print in addition!
