Super Market is Back for 2019!

On Saturday Super Market returned in a different and exciting venue for 2019 and also with a different format. It was held at the Vic Café & Bar, home to Glasgow School of Art’s student association, and, coincidentally former home to GSA’s fashion and textiles department.

Proceedings kicked off at 12pm with a collection of 40+ local and independent makers and initiatives opening their stalls for business on the first floor. Print Clan found a lovely new home on the second floor, a perfect spot for running our taster sessions.

Despite the amazing weather outside and the challenging heat inside, we facilitated six taster sessions where participants were taken through a series of drawing exercises and then encouraged to develop one of their drawings into a design, ready to be screen printed onto a tote bag.

Our theme on Saturday was Andy Warhol, so we had a still life made up of empty grocery packages assembled in the centre of the table. The resulting prints produced some interesting designs, and some participants also chose to use their own idea - unsurprisingly the sunshine inspired a few of the designs!
